Imran Farooq resigns?

Published June 25, 2004

KARACHI, June 24: One of the top leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Dr Imran Farooq, has resigned his party position, apparently owing to differences with the leadership, and has decided to lead a "retired life," sources in the party said.

Following the exit of Dr Farooq, who was convenor of the MQM Coordination Committee, the London-based body has been dissolved and most of its members have been asked to return to Pakistan as the coordination committee here has been vested with full powers, they said.
