Iran releases UK troops

TEHRAN, June 24: Eight British soldiers arrested for straying into Iranian waters were freed on Thursday and promptly whisked to the British embassy in Tehran, bringing an end to their humiliating ordeal.

The six Royal Marines and two sailors were arrested on Monday after their patrol boats strayed into Iranian waters on the Shatt al-Arab, a waterway that demarcates the border between Iran and British-occupied southern Iraq. -AFP
