HYDERABAD, June 24: Activists of the People's Party Parliamentarians and other parties in the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy held a protest demonstration and observed a hunger strike outside the press club here on Thursday.

They were protesting against killings of PPP leaders Munawar Suhrawardy and MPA Abdullah Murad, noted religious scholar Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, army personnel and policemen in an attack on a convoy of Corps Commander in Karachi and bomb blasts in mosques and imambargahs.

The protesters demanded arrest of those involved in the murders. Speaking on the occasion, divisional PPP president Sattar Bachani held the Sindh government responsible for the killings of the people. He condemned the poor law and order situation in the province.

PPP's Mohsin Shah Bukhari said the party could not be eliminated by killing its leaders Abdullah Murad and Munawar Suhrawardy. He alleged that those who murdered Abdullah Murad were sitting on the treasury benches.

He urged people to forge unity in their ranks and file to ensure the return of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.

PML-N leader Afzal Gujjar said the province was in the grip of lawlessness and alleged that terrorists had taken shelter in the Governor's House. The others who spoke on the occasion included Amanullah Siyal and Mir Fateh Talpur.

KHAIRPUR: The PPP set up a hunger strike camp at the Chhatti Chowk here on Thursday to protest against the murders of party leader Suhrawardy. Led by district PPP president Sajid Bhambhan, party activists participated in the seven-hour hunger strike. Speaking on the occasion, the party leaders criticized the Sindh government for the situation and demanded arrest of murderers of Mr Suhrawardy.
