Polls to be held on schedule, says Karzai


ISLAMABAD, June 23: The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has once again reaffirmed his pledge that the elections will be held in September despite the unrest which has increased during the last few weeks.

According to Voice of America, President Karzai has promised that elections would be held on its due date. He said that no stone would be left unturned for holding elections.

Mr Karzai said that there is possibility of increase in violent incidents to create disturbance before presidential and parliamentary elections in September. But he is determined to hold the elections as per schedule.

He said that the people who are against peace and democratic process in Afghanistan will make every possible attempts to stop elections. -APP
