SUKKUR, June 23: A woman and two children were killed when armed men attacked the Soomar Chachar village in Pano Akil taluka on Wednesday. The assailants fired rockets and used automatic weapons when the villagers were asleep.

As a result Abdul Wahab, 4, and Maula Bux, 5, both sons of Nawab Chachar, and their grandmother Hanifa were killed on the spot. The mother of the two killed children, Shahani, was injured.

She was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital, Pano Akil, in a critical condition. Police sources said that there was an animosity between the two groups of Chachars.

The dispute had started when Haleem Teghani Chachar was killed some time back on the pretext of karo-kari. Later, Teghanis killed Abdul Sattar, Amanullah and Nabi Bux Balelani Chachar.

Some 20 people from the two sides have been killed so far. Nawab Chachar, whose house was targeted, has not registered FIR with the Sadhuja police till the filing of this report.

ARRESTED: The Qadrapur police arrested a man, Gul Hassan Mahar, and recovered from his possession a Kalashnikov and 1,450 rounds. Police claimed that the man was involved in supplying arms and ammunition to bandits and he was a bodyguard of an influential person of the area.
