LAHORE, June 22: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar and four other players, who are playing county cricket in England, have been released by their respective counties to join the national training camp starting from Monday for the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still negotiating with Kent to release another pacer Mohammad Sami. Those who have been released are medium-pacer Shabbir, all-rounder Shoaib Malik, leg-spinner Danish Kaneria and Yasir Arafat.
Yasir, the Rawalpindi all-rounder, is playing for Scotland. The counties relieved the players over a strict warning sent to the players that their names could be omitted from the list of 26 probables called for the camp, if they did not join it from day one.
