Ahsan grabs honours with all-round show

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, June 19: Ahsan Khan produced an excellent all-round performance to guide Zone-II Whites into the semifinals of the KCCA Under-15 inter-zonal cricket tournament at the Asifabad Sports Ground on Friday.

Ahsan claimed six for 34 with off-spinners as Zone-V Blues were bundled out for 125 in 48.2 overs in the quarterfinal tie. He was ably supported by leg-spin of Hamza Ishtiaq who took three for 34.

The pair then helped themselves to unbeaten half-centuries as Zone-II Whites reeled off the required runs in 27 overs without losing any wicket. Ahsan finished with 57 while Hamza scored exactly 50.

Hamzaul Hasan continued his good form with 69 as Zone-I Whites annihilated Zone-IV Blues by 105 runs in the second quarterfinal at the UBL Sports Complex.

Hamza laced his knock with 10 boundaries to help Zone-I Whites reach 220 for seven in 50 overs. Saad Azeem also excelled with an unbeaten 62, including eight fours. Off-spinner Talha Azeem bagged five for 76.

Zone-IV Blues in reply were bowled out for 115 in 28.3 overs.

In a thrilling finish at the UBL Sports Complex, Zone-V Whites secured a one-wicket win over Zone-III Whites largely thanks to Mujahid Hussain who struck an undefeated 75 that included eight hits to the fence.
