KARACHI, June 15: Complaints have been received regarding contaminated water supply to various city areas. Most of the complaints have been received from residents of Jutland Lines, Azizabad's Mohammadi Colony and Jehangir Road (East) government quarters.
Residents of the affected localities said that although they were being supplied filthy water for the last four or five days, the KWSB officials have not taken measures to rectify the fault responsible for contaminated water supply.
They suspected that sewage might be mixing with potable water, they urged the city Nazim and the KWSB MD to direct the officials concerned to immediately help resolve the issue of contaminated water. They feared outbreak of intestinal diseases in view of consumption of filthy water.
SHORTAGE: An acute water shortage continues to persist in several parts of the city in the current hot and sultry weather. The hard-hit localities include Shah Faisal Colony No 5, Agra Taj Colony, Behar Colony, Baghdadi's D D Chaudhry Road, Kharadar, Bhimpura, Ranchorre Line, Saeedabad, Shershah, SITE (residential and industrial areas), Khokarapar, Malir and Clifton's Block 2.
Residents of the affected localities complained that in the absence of piped water, they have no choice but to either purchase private tankers at exorbitant rates or consume sub-soil unhygienic water at the cost of their health.
