By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, June 13: Farmers continued their protests against shortage of water in different parts of the district on Sunday.

Growers of the Sobhodero taluka and workers of the Sindh Hari Committee held a protest demonstration on the bridge of the Mehrab Wah near Sobhodero for the 14th consecutive day against shortage of water in Kharkano, Teekano and Mehrab Wahs, and the Imam Shakh and the Tharil Shakh.

Growers of tail-ends the Dali Shakh and the Aman Shakh staged a sit-in outside the Pakka Chang Press Club. Dur Mohammad, Bakhsh Ali, Kehar Khan and others said that no water had been supplied to tail-end areas for three months and 12 watercourses of the two Shakhs were lying dry due to which they could not cultivate cotton, maize, sugarcane and other crops.

They accused irrigation officials of selling their share of water. A large number of growers the Khan Wah, Thari Mirwah taluka, took out processions in Bozdar Wadda and Thari Mirwah against irrigation officials for stopping water supply to the Wah. The growers reached at the Khairpur town and protested outside offices of the DCO and the district nazim.
