RAWALPINDI, June 13: Different parts of the country will receive pre-monsoon rains within the next three days, the Met Office said on Sunday.

According to the Met office report, a low pressure area presently causing widespread rains in eastern India is likely to push pre-monsoon currents into the eastern parts of Pakistan over the next three days.

Due to these currents, scattered rains with thunderstorms are likely to be reported in Islamabad, Punjab, Kashmir, eastern Balochistan and parts of Sindh during this period.

Meanwhile, the report said some weak monsoon currents were present in Islamabad and the Punjab, which resulted in hot and humid conditions in most parts of the country on Sunday.

The sultry conditions, the Met office said, were likely to increase during the coming days due to the presence of monsoon currents. At the same time, a tropical cyclone is said to be developing in North Arabian Sea, but at present none of the areas of Pakistan are under threat from it.

During the next 24 hours, isolated thunder showers are expected in the twin cities, most probably early Monday morning. Showers are also expected in certain parts of upper Punjab and eastern Sindh.

Temperature in the twin cities on Sunday remained about 39 degrees centigrade with 40 per cent humidity.
