ISLAMABAD, June 12: Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has expressed her deep sorrow and grief over the death of eminent journalist Zamir Niazi who passed away on Friday in Karachi.

In a condolence message, issued by the Pakistan People's Party media cell here Saturday the former prime minister said she was shocked to learn about the death of Zamir Niazi.

The late Niazi was a journalist of outstanding merit and ability who had the courage of conviction to write and speak his mind without the thought of fear or favour from any body and his book Press in Chains and Press under Siege would be guiding lights for journalists for a long time, she remarked.

Zamir Niazi would be long remembered by Pakistani journalism who had forward looking and progressive outlook on national issues and was imbued with the will and courage to fight against tyranny and dictatorship, Ms Bhutto said.
