India says talks with APHC next month

NEW DELHI, June 11: India's Home Minister Shivraj Patil said on Friday the government was ready to hold peace talks with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) next month.

"As far as dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference goes, we think it can start in the month of July, if it is convenient to them," Mr Patil told reporters at his first news conference after assuming office.

Mr Patil made his comments following a meeting with Delhi's pointman on Kashmir, N.N. Vohra, earlier in the day. -AFP
