BAHAWALPUR: Vehicles impounded for CM's public meeting

BAHAWALPUR, June 10: Police impounded a number of buses on Thursday for Friday (today's) public meeting of the Punjab chief minister at Head Rajkan near Yazman, about 30 kilometres from here.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is due here in connection with the canvassing for PML-Q candidates. According to eyewitnesses, buses and wagons were impounded from Karachi Morr. The passengers were forcibly disembarked from the vehicles, causing a great deal of inconvenience to them.
The seized vehicles were parked at the lawns of the PTDC motel on the Club Road. Reports confirmed that the police impounded numerous vans from other areas as well. The vehicles will be used to carry the supporters to the venue of the meeting.
Later, transporters suspended plying the vehicles for the time being, intensifying the sufferings of commuters. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will inaugurate the dualization of Sir Sadiq Avenue, named after the former ruler of Bahawalpur, Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi. He will also meet various delegations at the local circuit house.
DEMO: The under-training nurses of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Thursday staged a demonstration outside the office of the medical superintendent to press for the acceptance of their demands. They demanded payment of six-month stipend and the supply of drinking water to their hostel.
CAMEL JOCKEYS: Two brothers taken to Dubai as camel jockeys were re-united with their parents on Thursday after four years by the Pakistan Overseas Foundation (POF) Muhammad (8) and Saleem (6) belonged to Chak No 4 near Khanpur. They were taken after paying a considerable amount to their parents. Later, their mother Zainab lost their address. The POF searched her with the help of Khanpur police.
