SARGODHA: Woman 'abducted' from court

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, June 10: Two men allegedly abducted a woman from the district courts here on Thursday. Haji Gulzar, the father of 'S', reported to the police that he along with his daughter was coming out of the family court judge after pursuing her suit for marriage dissolution when Muhammad Nazim and Muhammad Qasim abducted the woman.

Cantonment police have registered a case under Section 16 of the Hudood Ordinance. The police suspected that the woman eloped with her lover as she did not offer resistance to the kidnappers. Her father alleged that the police had been bribed by the accused.

JUDICIAL REMAND: The XEN arrested by the anti-corruption police on Wednesday was sent on judicial remand here on Thursday. Defending his case, Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed said he had not received bribe from one Mehr Khan.

However, he admitted that tainted currency notes were recovered from a drawer of his office table by the police. He said Mehr, on the instigation of some people, had allegedly managed to place the currency in his absence and implicated him in a false case.
