SUKKUR: Teachers' seniority list criticized

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR: June 9: Over 513 lecturers have rejected the seniority list recently circulated by the Sindh education department. They claimed that they were seniors to those who had been promoted by the education department.

They said that they were appointed under the prime minister's programme and had cleared the Sindh Public Service Commission examination in Nov 1992. The claimed that 100 lecturers placed higher in the seniority list were appointed in Sept 1993.

The chief coordinator for the prime minister's programme, promotion working committee, Ali Gul Shah Jillani, in a memorandum sent to President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday pointed out that by all rules and regulations lecturers from serial No: 621 to 710 were liable to be placed below in the list.

He said that it was injustice to seniors that juniors would get promotion which was violation of their fundamental rights.
