Bazid Khan blasts century

ISLAMABAD, June 8: Bazid Khan, son of former Test captain Majid Khan, struck a blazing 104 on Tuesday to power Islamabad Whites to an 85-run victory over Combined XI in the NBP-ICA Inter-District Super Cup Cricket Tournament.
In a 129-ball innings, Bazid hammered two sixes and five fours as Islamabad advanced their claim for a place in the semifinals of the elite tournament.
Islamabad hit up 268 for seven off their 50 overs in this match played at the Army Cricket Ground with Ameer Khan and Farrukh Hayat cracking half centuries. Iftikhar Mahmood picked up three for 54.
Combined XI in reply could manage just 183 runs, a total in which Adeem Arif scored 63 and Taj Mohammad stroked 58. Bazid and Adnan Suleman claimed two wickets apiece. In another match, Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) led by Test opener Imran Farhat, thrashed Gujranwala by 101 runs.
Salman Butt cracked 102 with six boundaries and a six while Rashid Riaz collected a useful 81 as LCCA amassed 305 for five in 48 overs. Zubair Wattoo restricted them somewhat with three for 60.
Gujranwala were then dismissed for 204, Salman Butt claiming three for 14 with Kashif Naveed, Imran Farhat and Rizwan Ahmed taking two each. Naeemuddin scored a half century but his runs proved of no use.
