LARKANA, June 6: A dispute has cropped up between the district government and the Sindh education department over the appointment of executive district officer (education).
Sources told this correspondent on Saturday that the secretary education Ghulam Ali Pasha on May 31 had appointed Noor Jehan Gaad, a grade-20 officer, as the EDO education.
The same day, Sindh education minister Irfanullah Marwat, citing a directive of the Sindh chief minister, had asked Ms Gaad to relinquish the charge immediately and report to the department.
A grade-19 professor, Manohar Lal, was asked to look after the work of EDO education till the posting of a regular officer. District Nazim Khursheed Junejo in his letter to the Sindh chief secretary on June 5 said that Manohar Lal had assumed the charge as the EDO education on June 2 without issuance of a formal posting order.
The nazim said that frequent transfers and particularly at this juncture would definitely affect the Sindh education reforms (SER) programme. He recommended that Noor Jehan should be allowed to continue as the EDO education till the formal notification was issued.
