KINGSTON, June 4: Three wickets, two to Pedro Collins, set back Bangladesh before lunch on the opening day of the second and final Test against West Indies on Friday.

Choosing to bat, Bangladesh reached 73 for three in their first innings at the interval with Rajin Saleh not out on 16 and Mohammad Ashraful not out on 10.

Greeted by a hard, helpful Sabina Park pitch, Collins removed opener Hannan Sarkar and captain Habibul Bashar in the first hour to return figures of two for 24 from eight overs at lunch. Fidel Edwards added the wicket of Javed Omar to end a satisfying morning for the home team.

Collins, like he did in the previous Test, struck with the very first ball of the match when Hannan was again adjudged lbw for nought again offering no stroke to a delivery that jagged back and hit him adjacent to the off-stump.

It was the third time Hannan had fell to Collins this way, and with the first ball of a Test to make the West Indies left-arm medium-fast bowler the first player to take a wicket with the first ball of a Test three times.

Habibul, a century-maker in the drawn first Test at Gros Islet, started with a cut through backward point for four off the next ball from Collins, who then had the Bangladesh captain caught behind off a no ball top-edging a cut off the following delivery.

Habibul gained a second reprieve when he was caught at gully again off a no ball from Collins that flew from the shoulder of the bat. The Bangladesh captain did not profit much from Collins' transgressions of the popping crease and was eventually caught at gully for 20 slicing one of his trademark cuts at a short ball from the same bowler.

Javed and Rajin offered some resistance to the West Indies attack, but Edwards broke through when the Bangladesh opening batsman was caught behind for 20 essaying a back foot cover drive.
