FAISALABAD, June 3: Garah police claimed on Thursday to have registered a case against five policemen, including a post in-charge, who killed an elderly man in custody on Wednesday night.

Reports said Kanjwani police post SI Gul Nawaz, along with constables Sardar Muhammad, Irshad Baloch, Muhammad Naseem and Muhammad Ashraf, raided a house at Chak 388-GB and arrested Abdul Haq on the charge of theft.

The police tortured him at the police station where he died after some time. However, they claimed that the elderly man suffered heart attack on way to police station and shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Tandlianwala.

Deceased's son Muhammad Akram alleged that the policemen had tortured and killed his father to oblige his opponents. Garah police have registered a case against the policemen three of whom had been arrested.
