SWABI, June 3: The ongoing construction of five shops near the residences of the sessions judge and the DSP on Swabi-Topi Road has created differences between the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and the District Revenue Office (DRO).

Official sources told Dawn on Thursday that the DRO, who is custodian of the government property in the district, had stopped the construction work. The DRO told Tehsil nazim Masood Jabar that the construction could not have been started without his approval.

Talking to this correspondent, the contractor, who had already carried out the foundation work, said that Rs550,000 had been allocated for the project. He hoped that the issue would be resolved soon.

LOADSHEDDING: Negating official claims, the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company has resorted to unscheduled loadshedding in various localities and people have demanded an immediate end to it.

"Yes we are carrying out loadshedding due to overload as the power consumption has increased manifold because of scorching heat," said an official, seeking anonymity.

People pointed out that electricity usually remained suspended on Sundays. They said whenever they contacted Pesco officials they replied that some maintenance and construction work had to be done on the infrastructure.
