Sindh wants just share under NFC award

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 3: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the provincial government has taken a firm stand on the resources distribution and will insist that it should be given its due share under NFC award on the basis of revenue contribution the province makes to the national exchequer.

"We do not want to encourage upon other share but would like the National Finance Commission to award us the share we deserve", he said in the launching ceremony of an exhibition, being organized by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), titled "My Karachi - Oasis of Harmony", from July 30-August 1, 2004, at Karachi Expo Centre.

Adviser to the Sindh chief minister on information Salahuddin Haider had read the text of Dr Ibad's speech after he left the ceremony while speaking extempore.

The governor said the city was now facing problems emanating from worsening law and order situation, encroachments, water shortage and loadshedding, but the government was taking every step to resolve grievances of the industrialists.

Mr Ibad urged the business community not to loose hope as things would improve and the city would again witness its lost grace and harmony prevailing in the month of April.
