Chappell joins NCA next month

LAHORE, June 2: Australian great batsman and former captain Greg Chappell will impart training at the National Cricket Academy for a week from July 26 to Aug 3. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had signed an agreement of one month duration with Chappell but decided to use him at four different periods.

However, calling Chappell four times for a short period of one week on each occasion means the PCB would have to bear extra expenditure on his travelling from Australia. It is said Chappell will charge US$5,000 per day besides free travelling, boarding and lodging.

It may be mentioned here that in that past, the PCB had hired the services of former England opener Geoffrey Boycott for over a million rupees. The PCB had engaged a sponsor for Boycott but this time there is no sponsor to assist the cricket board. Besides giving training at the NCA, Chappell can also do other assignment on the recommendation of the board.
