ISLAMABAD, June 2: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday submitted recommendations for wheat import to Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The committee constituted by the prime minister to review and recommend the modalities for the import of wheat also reviewed various aspects related to the issue and submitted its recommendations.

The meeting was presided over by the finance minister and was attended by the minister for food and agriculture, secretaries of ministries of industries and commerce, chairman Passco, chairman TCP and senior officers of ministry of finance.

The meeting discussed various available options about the organizations which would handle the import of wheat. The modalities for procurement and distribution of wheat were analyzed. The meeting also reviewed the wheat and flour prices in the country and agreed that steps needed to be taken to ensure a better situation for future. -APP
