JACOBABAD, May 31: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Tangwani town, Kandhkot taluka, on Monday to protest against the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company for its failure to restore power supply despite lapse of 20 hours.

Business activity suffered a setback while residents faced additional hardships because of the breakdown in intense heat.

Led by Noorullah Khoso, the protesters also blocked the Jacobabad-Tangwani road and burnt tyres while raising slogans against Hesco officials. Later, the protest ended on assurance of the Hesco SDO that power supply, disrupted owing to a fault in an electric tower, would be restored in 24 hours.

POLIO FORUM: A seminar on polio was held in the district council hall here on Monday. The seminar was attended by district naib nazim Asghar Ali Panhwar, health EDO Dr Basheer Ahmed Ghotiyo, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Channa, Dr Agha Noor Ahmed Pathan and Dr Wajid Hussain Bhatti.

TWO KILLED: Two persons, Bahawal Dasti, 23, and Khor Dasti, 28, were killed in ongoing feud between Mangi and Dasti tribesmen in the Zor Garh village, taluka Garhi Khero, here on Monday.

The tribal feud has claimed 6 lives so far. The bodies were shifted to the Garhi Khero Hospital for autopsy. No FIR was lodged by Dodapur police till the filing of this report.
