PESHAWAR, May 30: A musical evening held at the press club in the memory of the late poet Abdul Ghani Khan was a blesing for journalists who otherwise find little time for leisure and entertainment.

The concert was organised by the Cultural Committee of the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Saturday night. Press Club president Mohammed Riaz in his address welcomed the artistes and the larged gathering.

Local singer Noor Jehan enthralled the audience with her Pashto rendering. She was followed by new-look and youthful Shaheen Shah who delivered two ghazals. PTV's Alamzeb Mujahid, a popular comedian was widely acclaimed and applauded.

Mujahid came to the rescue of many performers several times, when hooliganism seemed to threaten the event. He was supported by comedian Umar Gul and other PTV artistes, including Siddique Akbar, Javaid Babar, Tariq Jamal and Khalid Khattak. Local singer Taj Akbar was pick of the event. He presented Ghani Khan's ghazals.
