TOKYO, May 28: France moved to the brink of securing their place in the Olympics volleyball tournament here on Friday as China and Australia set up a shoot-out for the last Asian berth from final qualifiers.
France faced a spirited challenge from Iran before scoring a 33-31, 25-19, 25-21 victory for a perfect fifth straight win without losing a single set in the eight-nation round robin.
Asian silver medallists China outgunned Algeria 25-15, 25-16, 25-15, while Australia powered their way to a 25-21, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19 victory over South Korea for identical 4-1 win-loss records. -AFP
