KARACHI: Girl dies in crossfire in Lyari

KARACHI, May 28: A girl died in a crossfire between two groups in Lyari on Friday. Police said that Madiha, 13, was returning home from Madressah when she suffered a bullet wound in a crossfire between two notorious groups of Lyari.

Following the incident, they said, armed men fled leaving the wounded girl on the spot. Area people took the wounded girl to Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment. Police were making raids for the arrest of the armed suspects, a duty officer of Chakiwara Police Station said.

SUICIDE: A teenager committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house in Mochko on Friday. Police said that Syed Mohsin Abbas, 15, committed suicide after his parents scolded him over some petty issue. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital by the police for postmortem examination.

ACCIDENT: A man died in a road accident in Keamari on Friday. Police said that a Suzuki pickup and a trailer collided near Ghas Bander, Keamari. The pickup driver, Mohammad Farooq, 42, was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment.

According to the police, the victim's family forgave the trailer driver, thus, no case was registered at the Jackson Police Station. The driver was allowed to go, police added.
