CHARSADDA, May 27: Chairman Public Safety Commission Charsadda Sajid Khan urged media men to enlighten the masses about the role of the public safety commission.
Talking to Dawn here on Thursday, he said that five months had elapsed since the formation of the Public Safety Commission in Charsadda but the commission has no funds even to install a telephone in its office.
He said that the commission is aware of the grievances of the people and would improve its performance as soon as the funds become available. To a question about delay in the formation of Public Safety Commission at the union council level the chairman replied that he had contacted the concerned union council nazims in this regard.
According to the chairman, the commission has held several meetings and is planning to carry out the exercise in remote areas of the district. He said that eight complaints against station house officers were under process.
He said that the complaint procedure is very simple: either to write an application or make a telephone call. The chairman said he would even respond to an anonymous telephone call.
