Team leaves for India to discuss water issues
LAHORE, May 24: A delegation of the Pakistan Commission for Indus Water left here for India on Wednesday for talks on water-related issues.
According to the agenda of the meeting, the India-Pakistan Permanent Indus Commission will finalize its annual report which will be submitted to both governments. The meeting will also work out arrangements for communication of flood data to Pakistan during the coming flood season.
According to official sources, Pakistan will take up the issue of controversial Kishan Ganga Hydroelectric Project (330 MW) on the River Jehlum.
The delegation is led by Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah included M. Mushtaq Chaudhry, General Manager, Wapda; Baqir Ali Rana of the federal Ministry of Law, Abdul Salaam Khan, Irrigation Secretary, Balochistan; M.H. Siddiqui, Consultant Punjab Irrigation Department; Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, general manager, Nespak, Shaukat Ali Awan, of Met Office; and Tahir Wasim, deputy commissioner.
