Six Harkat activists remanded in CID custody


KARACHI, May 25: Six alleged terrorists belonging to the Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Almi were remanded in the custody of the CID police till May 31 by Arshad Noor Khan, judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC-III), for Karachi division on Tuesday.

The accused included Imran alias Sunny alias Munna alias Murtaza, Mohammed Amir alias Nadeem, Mohammad Abid alias Nazir, Khurram Shahab alias Farrukh, Nasir alias Master, Naveed Hamid alias Michael alias Bilal.

Police alleged to have sized six submachine-guns, four RPG and rockets, four launchers, and four pistols. The investigators claimed that the accused were involved in high-profile cases of bombing in the city, including the US Consulate, the Frenchmen killing case and the Macedonian Consulate blast case.

The accused, according to police, were rounded up after their ring leader, Kamran alias Atif, was arrested on May 19 after an alleged encounter with the CID police in the jurisdiction of the Taimuria police station. Six cases were registered against them at the Kalakot police station. - APP
