KARACHI: City govt to develop parks, playgrounds


KARACHI, May 25: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has said that the city government will develop model parks in all 18 towns of the city, to provide the people with recreational facilities near their homes.

He was speaking after inaugurating a park, developed by union council no 10, North Nazimabad, on Monday night. He observed that development of parks and plantation in the city would reduce environmental pollution. Mr Khan said a hockey stadium was constructed in Buffer Zone, sector 15-A-4. He viewed that playgrounds and parks would provide a healthy environment to the youngsters.

He said the city government would not allow anyone to use its grounds and parks for any other purpose. Meanwhile, he laid the foundation stone of a scheme, under which a 12-inch diameter water pipeline from Irum Shopping Centre to Iqbal Ground would be laid. The scheme will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs3.7 million.

After laying of the pipeline, sectors 15-A-1, 15-A-2, 15-A-3, 16-A-4 and 14-A-5 of the Buffer Zone will be supplied drinking water to overcome the water shortage in these areas. North Nazimabad Town's Nazim, Fasihuddin Siddiqui, Naib Nazim Maqsood Khan, UC-10 Nazim Saiful Haq Usmani and officers concerned were present on the occasion. -PPI
