QUETTA, May 25: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani on Tuesday asked the National Highway Authority to accelerate the pace of work on highway and road projects in the province and ensure their completion in time.
Speaking at a briefing, he said early completion of the NHA's project would provide speedy travelling facilities to the people and ensure transportation of Balochistan's products to other provinces.
NHA General Manager Saeed Ahmed, while briefing the governor, said Rs4.85 billion had been allocated for construction of highways and roads in Balochistan during the current fiscal year.
In the next financial year, over Rs5 billion was likely to be allocated for the sector, he said and added that over Rs1 billion was being spent on repair and improvement of highways in the province during the current year.
Work on the coastal, Dera Allahyar-Nottal-Sibi-Dhadar, Sibi-Quetta and Ratodero-Shehdadkot-Khuzdar highways and Quetta-Qila Saifullah-Zhob, Qila Saifullah-Dera Ghazi Khan, Zhob-Dhahanasur and Gwadar-Turbat-Awaran roads was in progress and would completed according to the schedule, he said. He said the Lakpass tunnel and Kalat-Quetta-Chaman highway projects would be launched next year.
DELEGATION: A delegation of Chiltan town, led by Town Nazim Mir Mohammad Ismail Lehri, called on the governor. The governor assured the members of the delegation of taking appropriate measures to resolve their problems.
