LAHORE, May 24: The division bench of the Lahore High Court, which was constituted for hearing the writ petitions of seven PML-N leaders, three of them MPAs , did not hear the pleas against their detention orders because of some developments at the Punjab government level.

The provincial government has reportedly withdrawn detention orders of MPAs Malik Yawar Zaman from Okara, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad from Lahore and Rao Jahanzeb Khan from Sheikhupura, and some other PML-N activists.

They were detained under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, so that they could not lead a procession to Lahore airport to receive party president Shahbaz Sharif on April 11.

According to sources, the government has withdrawn detention orders of the PML-N MPAs in the wake of pressure being exerted by the opposition on the provincial assembly speaker to ensure their presence in the legislature whose summer session is beginning tomorrow.

The government is also learnt to have rescinded the detention order of union council Nazim Muhammad Shoaib, Naib Nazim Nazir Khan Swati and party activists, Nasir Ahmad Nasri and Maqsood Aslam.
