Immelman claims second Euro Tour crown


ST LEON-ROT, May 23: South African Trevor Immelman birdied the 72nd hole in the Tournament Players Championship of Europe on Sunday to claim his second European Tour title of the year and leave Ireland's Padraig Harrington having to settle for his 22nd professional runner-up finish.

Immelman's 17-under-par 271 total after a closing seven-under-par 65 left him a stroke better than defending champion Harrington, who crucially missed his birdie chance on the final hole.

SEOUL: Scotsman Simon Yates ended a six-year title drought when he won the SK Telecom Open by one shot from overnight leader Charlie Wi of Korea and Rick Gibson of Canada on Sunday.

Starting the final round one stroke off the lead, the Thai-based Yates fired a final round of two-under-par 70 in the Asian Tour event to triumph at Baekahmvista Country Club, picking up a cheque of $85,470.

FORT WORTH: Chad Campbell shot a brilliant nine-under-par 61 in windy conditions on Saturday to gain a share of the lead after three rounds of the PGA Tour's Colonial tournament.

Campbell finished on eight-under 202 along with US compatriots Brian Gay (65) and Steve Flesch (67).
