KARACHI, May 23: The process of handing over possession of plots to allottees in Hawkesbay Scheme-42 under the Lyari Development Project (LDP) will start forthwith, while all possible steps would be taken for providing acilities in all sectors of the scheme.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of LDP held under the chairmanship of project director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha. The meeting took important steps for expediting the pace of pending works, and it was decided that the first phase of giving possession of plots to allottees would start from Sectors 11 and 12 of Scheme-42.

In this regard, work on provision of facilities in these two sectors had started and was going on apace. Allottees of the two sectors had been asked to immediately clear their dues to get possession of their plots.

The meeting was informed that after rehabilitation of shiftees of Lyari river to Sectors 6, 9 and 10, basic amenities were being provided there, while development works in respect of water, electricity, sewerage etc had commenced in other sectors of Scheme-42.

Construction work on the main communication road was also in its last stage of completion. While, it was informed that usual hustle and bustle of life had started after shifting people to Sectors 6, 9 and 10 and the local population was increasing fast.

It may be mentioned that under the defunct Lyari Development Authority, some 30,000 people were allotted plots through balloting in Hawkesbay Scheme-2. After the city district came into being, the agency started functioning as the Lyari Development Project under the city government and development activities were going on for the last one year. -APP
