Azwer re-elected secretary PBF


KARACHI, May 22: Former secretary Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) Azwer-ul-Haq was re-elected secretary PBF in a meeting of the federation's board of directors on Friday.

He replaced Tariq Rasheed Khan, who opted out of the poll citing personal reasons.

In the meantime, Tariq Rasheed-Saeed Ansari won Karachi Gymkhana mid-week bridge contest with an impressive score of 62.56 percent from north-south direction, while a pair comprising father and son, Ghaffar Qureshi-Zulfiqar Qureshi finished second with 61 percent.

Khalid Mohiuddin with Shahab Khan outpointed east-west pairs with a handsome score of 60.78 percent. Hussain Jaffer and Hasan Askari missed the top spot by whisker finishing second with 60.13 percent.

In another related development, the PBF after conducting draws for the Karachi Cup, placed teams in four houses which are as under:

Allana House: Allana, Marathon, Attackers, Saigols, IV-Bidders (N), Karachi Club (Akber), Karachi Golf Club, Aces.

Hadi House: Hadi, Candyland (K), Karachi Gymkhana (Ghaffar), KG (Osman), I-Bidders (S), Defence Club, Salman Masud IV, Abcons.

Candyland House: Candyland, Havoc, EFU, KG (Khairi), Mushahid, Dynamo, Mahmood IV and Pentagon.

Marathon House: Marathon (T), Giants, Chandna, Karachi Club (Raza), Zeenat, Shano and Syed-IV.-APP
