Muttahida fomenting political dissent: PPP
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, May 22: The Pakistan People's Party has said that it could not be held responsible for any discord in the province, but it was the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which was promoting a culture of disagreement.
Reacting over a recent statement of Muttahida's chief Altaf Hussain, PPP's members of the parliament said that Muttahida, despite having mandate of the people, time and again, failed to ensure any genuine relief to the suppressed people of the province. Muttahida, under a deal with the existing establishment, had struck off the word "right" from its dictionary, they added.
They said that Muttahida was now playing the role of silent spectator and that was why it never bothered to talk about hardship faced by the people, but tried to get maximum benefit by threatening the government of breaking the coalition.
The party leadership had adopted a 'criminal' silence on issues like unemployment, price escalation, water and power crises, faced by the people of Karachi, they added.
In a statement, they further viewed that Muttahida should not be afraid of the enquiry into rigging issue, if it was confident of its victory in the recently held by-elections.
