Reference against Faisal adjourned

LAHORE, May 22: An accountability court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of a wilful default reference against Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat for June 5 without any proceedings as the learned judge was on leave.

It is pertinent to mention that the court had permanently exempted the accused from personal appearance in the court.

Mr Hayat and his nine relatives were facing charges of a wilful default of Rs241.07 million loan obtained in the name of the Shah Jewna Textile Mills from the United Bank Limited, Faisalabad, in 1991.

MULATN MAYOR: Accountability court judge Rana Zahid Mehmood on Saturday reserved for June 5 his judgment on a reference against former mayor of the defunct Multan Municipal Corporation Shaukat Ali Dogar after the completion of final arguments by the parties.

The NAB in the reference alleged that the accused being mayor from 1992 to 1993 withdrew an amount of Rs30,73,375 from the corporation funds and showed that he had purchased a five-door Toyota Land Cruiser.

In fact, the accused did not purchase the vehicle and personally used the money. When the tenure of accused was going to be finished, he purchased a second hand Land Cruiser, the NAB further alleged.-PPI
