LAHORE: CM says no compromise on reforms programme

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, May 21: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Friday that the government would not compromise on its reform programme in education, health, agriculture and other sectors.

He was speaking to the participants in the 85th advance course of public sector management here at NIPA. The chief minister said the government would come up to the expectations of the people regarding the fast development at any cost.

He said Pakistan could play a pivotal role in promoting world peace as after Sept 11 it had earned outstanding position at global level due to its geographical position, volume of population, nuclear capability, science and computer skills.

He said promotion of education was the mission of his government through which it wanted to bring about a visible change in the quality of people's life. The government intended to rekindle hope through its actions as it was the only way of an effective jihad against hopelessness and frustration.

He said the country would have to restore the confidence of people to brighten its future. For that purpose, it was required to promote Islamic values of sacrifice, truthfulness and bravery.

Earlier, he hoped that the participants would discharge their duties in different departments in a befitting manner after completing the course. He appreciated the content of reports presented by different groups of the participants.
