KARACHI: Harkat man given in police custody


KARACHI, May 21: Judge Arshad Noor Khan of the Anti-Terrorism Court-III Karachi on Friday remanded Kamran alias Atif, an activist of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami, to police custody till May 27.

Atif was arrested two days back in an injured condition after a police shoot-out. Investigation Officer Zafar Ali Shah sought police remand of the accused with his medical report, stating that the accused had sustained bullet wounds, and as per advice of the doctor, he was not in a position to be produced before the court.

The court, granting the application for physical remand, also directed the IO to provide proper medical treatment to the accused. Police had arrested Kamran after a shootout in the limits of Taimoria PS Karachi. One passer by woman, Ms Sarwar also received bullets during exchange of fire and died on the spot. -PPI
