KARACHI: Mosque blast toll rises to 22

KARACHI, May 20: Yet another victim of the May 7 bomb blast in Hyderi mosque died at the Liaquat National Hospital here on Thursday, raising the death toll in the tragedy to 22.

The victim, Afsar Abbas, 38, had suffered over 55 per cent burns. He was an employee of the Pakistan Railways and has left behind a widow and three children. His Namaz-i-Janaza, at Masjid-o-Imambargah Khairul Amal, F. B. Area, and burial, at Wadi-i-Hussain, have been delayed until Friday.

Earlier, on May 17, another blast victim, Ahmer Manzar Abbas, 35, had scummed to his injuries at the same hospital whereas Dr Asad Abbas Naqvi and Agha Ghulam Haider had died at the Aga Khan Hospital on May 13.

Among the other victims were Syed Ali Rizvi, also a resident of Rizvia Society, who had succumbed to his injuries while under treatment at Patel Hospital, and Sakhawat Ali who died at a private hospital on May 12. Nihal Rizvi had breathed his last on May 11 Sakha Ali on May 9.
