Iranians attack UK embassy

TEHRAN, May 19: Clashes broke out in Tehran on Wednesday as police intervened to stop Iranian protesters attacking the British embassy.

The demonstrators, protesting against attacks by coalition forces on holy cities in southern Iraq, burned British and American flags and threw petrol bombs into the embassy compound.

They demanded the British flag be removed from the embassy and that the British ambassador be expelled. -dpa
