SUKKUR, May 19: The Anti-Terrorism Court-I, Sukkur and Larkana, here on Wednesday sentenced six persons to life imprisonment in a kidnapping-cum-murder case.

The convicts were identified as Munawwar Ali, who has been arrested, and absconders Mubeen Narejo, Ali Hassan Narejo, Ali Ahmad Narejo, Karam Ali Narejo and Soomer Narejo.

The court also ordered that property to the tune of Rs100,000 of each convict should be forfeited. The accused had kidnapped Ahmad Khan Korejo and Mohammad Aslam Korejo in the Korejo village, Shikarpur, on Nov 23, 2001, and killed them when the ransom amount was not paid to them.

40 BOOKED: The Ranipur police on Tuesday night registered a case against 40 Watni tribesmen on the order of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench. The court had issued the order on an application of a woman, Azeeman, who stated that eight persons, including her cousin, Abdul Qadir Junejo, had been killed in an armed attack by their rival group.

Those booked included Ghulam Sarwar, Ashiq, Lal Dino, Bakhshal, Mumtaz, Ali Dino, Muhkamuddin, Ghaus Bux, Hussain Ali, Roshan, Panjoo, Qasim, Sikandar, Abdul Ghaffar, Rafiq, Sher, Iqbal, Shahid, Atta Hussain, Tariq, Nawaz, Manzoor Hussain, Jurio, Ali Raza, Ghulam Qadir, Ahmad, Ismail, Sikandar, Dilbar, Amman, Abdul Ghani, Pervaiz, Muneer, Gul Mohammad, Saleem, Amjad, Khair Mohammad, Abdul Ghaffar, Muneer and Lal.
