HARARE, May 17: Australian top order batsmen Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer got the Australian tour of Zimbabwe off to a good start at the Zimbabwe Academy on Monday. Playing against Zimbabwe "A" - which is effectively a third eleven - they scored 64 and 79 not out respectively.

Hayden was out just before the close of play. He struck a six and nine fours. Langer's innings included 12 fours. Ricky Ponting had time only to score one run. Australia were 151-1 at stumps, the same score that Zimbabwe made all out.

Zimbabwe "A" captain Vusi Sibanda won the toss and decided to bat. He went on to be the Zimbabwean top scorer with 48.

Summarized scores:

Zimbabwe "A" 151 all out (V. Sibanda 48, J. Gilespie 4-25);

Australia 151-1 (M. Hayden 64, J. Langer 79 n.o.). -AFP
