JACOBABAD, May 16: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has stressed the need for an effective system of intelligence and law-enforcement to eradicate the menace of terrorism.

Addressing a gathering here on Sunday, he said that the government was determined to improve the law and order situation in the country and warned the law-enforcement agencies against any lapses.

APP adds: The prime minister said that Kashmir was the core issue between India and Pakistan and stressed the need for Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) by the two countries.

He said he hoped that the new Indian government would continue the peace process between the two countries. Prime Minister Jamali, who called on PML leader Pir Saheb Pagaro at his Pir-Jo-Goth residence, was replying to questions of newsmen.

The prime minister said that his government had taken a number of CBMs during past one year to pave way for peace between the two countries. He said peace was in the best interest of the two countries, and added that they should devote their energies and resources for the peace and progress of their peoples and eradication of poverty and illiteracy.
