Local bodies spurn PCB's offer

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, May 16: The joint action committee of the local cricket associations of the country has rejected Pakistan Cricket Board's offer to discuss their problems, individually instead of jointly.

This was disclosed by the chairman action committee, Aamir Hayat Khan Rokri in a Meet-the-Press programme organized by the Sports Journalists Association Lahore (SJAL) on Sunday.

Rokri, also the president of Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA), said that in reply to the association's ultimatum, to resolve pending issues by May 21, the PCB sent letters to some of the associations instructing them to meet individually which they refused claiming it as an attempt to divide and rule.

He pointed out that the PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja also talked to Mardan Cricket Association president Dr Tariq offering him some incentive if he dissociated himself from the joint action committee, but he too (Tariq) refused. Rokri said that all associations would gather in Lahore on Wednesday to try to meet PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan.
