SAHIWAL, May 16: Police on Sunday reportedly issued arrest warrants for 17 PML-N activists, including the district president under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). They have reportedly gone underground to avoid arrests.
Reports said Malak Nadim Kamran had led a caravan of wagons with party workers to Lahore to welcome Mian Shahbaz Sharif. They had clashed with the police near Okara.
The Okara police had registered a case under section 427, 341/186 PPC and 16-MPO against Nadeem Kamran and arrested 16 other party workers identified as IZ Bhatti, Iqbal Nadeeem, Malak Muhammad Arshad, Soofi Ali Ahmed, Mazhar Farid, Asad Raza, Ghazi Abbas, Shahid Atique, Khuram Allah Yar Sahoo, Rai Zahoor Ahmed, Sarfaraz Chaudhry, Muhammad Nadeem, Malak Ibrar, Muhammad Akram, Sajid Ali and Haji Sajid Naseem.
Special Judicial Magistrate Hafiz Shaukat Javed had granted them bail on May 12. Now it is believed that the police, under section 436 PPC and section-3 of ATA have issued their arrest warrants.
Meanwhile, a party's press release issued here on Sunday said that Nadeem Kamaran had been missing since the night of May 13 and all effort to trace him by workers and the relatives had failed. His cellular phone only provided the tapped message of non-availability, it said.
