Mahar hopeful of NFC settlement

Published May 17, 2004

SUKKUR, May 16: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said that the NFC Award issue will be resolved before the next budget and all differences between the federal and provincial governments over certain points will also be addressed.

Talking to newsmen at Pir Jo Goth before meeting Pir Pagaro on Sunday, he said that in principle all the points had been agreed upon and the federal finance minister would make only formal announcement.

He said that except Sanghar, by-elections on national and provincial seats were transparent and the people making the issue of it without any justification.

He said that candidates have approached to the election commission regarding the malpractice and hoped that the election commission would decide the matter on merit. The chief minister said that some differences occur in the coalition government but it did not mean that our coalition partners were blackmailing us.
