LEAs asked to be ready against all machinations
KARACHI, May 15: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar has said that people have been frustrated with strikes, as they want development and prosperity in the province.
He was speaking as chief guest at the passing out parade of Sindh Rangers here on Saturday.
The chief minister said: "Pakistan was achieved in the name of Islam. In order to defend our motherland as a true soldier of Islam, it will have to be kept in mind that secret of our success lies in following the Islamic teachings," he said.
"We can only keep up the golden traditions and perform our professional duties efficiently by becoming a faithful Muslim and a true Pakistani," he added.
Addressing the Rangers personnel, he said that some elements did not want peace to prevail in Sindh. He called upon the law- enforcement agencies to pledge that they would spare no sacrifice to protect the country against internal as well as external machinations.
He said that Sindh Rangers had been entrusted with the sensitive and perilous task of internal security in urban and rural areas as well as dangerous katcha areas and the same was being discharged in a very well manner.
The chief minister told the passing out jawans that their profession was respectable and the secret to achieve landmarks of success was hidden in hard work and dedication.
Extending warm felicitations to the passing out Rangers, he expressed hope that they would invest all their energies for the furtherance of existing dignity and quality of the force.
In his welcome address, Director General Rangers Maj Gen Javed Zia highlighted the performance and success of the force. He said that the Ranger's training centre and school were shifted from Hyderabad to Karachi last year so that the jawans were provided a purposeful and uniform training in a conducive training environment. Moreover, he said that modern technical changes had been brought in the field of training to raise the force on modern lines to cope with the challenges of terrorism and future perils.
On the occasion, the chief minister was presented guard of honour. He inspected the passing out parade, which included the jawans of Shahbaz, Bhattai, Qasim, Sachal and Indus companies.
Later, the passing out recruits were administered oath. The chief minister presented awards and prizes to the jawans, who showed prominent performance during the training. Sub-Inspector Asim Irshad was given award on shooting, Hawaldar Rajab Ali (PT), Sepoy Abdul Shakoor on good performance during training, SI Sanaullah (Education), SI Imtiaz Ahmed for overall good performance. Qasim Company was awarded as the champion for outstanding performance in all departments.
On the occasion, the Rangers personnel gave an impressive demonstration of fight against terrorism.
DG Rangers Maj Gen Javed Zia presented a special shiled to the chief minister.
Provincial ministers Mir Manzoor Panwar and Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkil Kazi, IG Police Syed Kamal Shah, Rangers and army officials, and relatives of the passing out jawans attended the passing out ceremony.
REMOVAL ORDERED: In view of the present law and order situation, Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mahar has ordered immediate removal of tinted glasses from all kinds of vehicles across the province.
He issued this directive to all departments concerned including traffic police officials. He said that action be taken against vehicles with tinted glasses and no slackness be observed in this regard.
The chief minister said it was observed that criminals had been using the vehicles with tinted glasses, which created problems for law-enforcement agencies during checking. -APP/PPI
