KARACHI: 'All about lifestyles' attracts crowds

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 15: A three-day exhibition titled "All about lifestyles" entered its second day at the Expo Centre on Saturday. At least 102 companies are taking part in the exhibition organized by the Dawn Group of Newspapers.

Talking to Dawn, many visitors said they enjoyed coming to the "lifestyle exhibition" because it enabled them to select articles of their choice from a wide variety of options.

"I mostly come here determined not to purchase much. But mostly I end up spending a lot of money on the things I have to buy on a regular basis. The good thing is that these things are available under one roof," said Sumaira Kazimi, an IT expert at a multinational company.

Speaking about the variety of options available to visitors, one of the organizers said the exhibitors had set up 105 stalls in the three halls of the Expo Centre. He said a food street had been established outside the halls where at least 26 vendors were selling food.

Another visitor to the exhibition said he was surprised that window-shoppers did not outnumber serious buyers at the exhibition. "Mostly people go to an exhibition, find out what is being sold and at what price, and then take their leave. This is not the case in this exhibition where people are actually making purchases," he said.

BABAR GHAURI: Federal Minister for Communications Babar Khan Ghauri on Saturday afternoon visited the exhibition at the Expo Centre, adds APP.

He went round various stalls and showed keen interest in the exhibits and products on display there.

Talking to newsmen, Senator Ghauri said he was pleased to see the hustle bustle at the exhibition. He said this belied the propaganda of those who wanted to give the impression that there was disturbances in the city. The minister said the usual activity had been restored to the city.

Senator Ghauri said the credit for this went to President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and his government.
